Wir folgen den Spuren der TITANIC. Ihr letzter Hafen vor dem Unglück: Cobh bzw. damals Queenstown. Aber wir machen uns die Mühe in Cobh anzulegen. Später erfahren wir: die TITANIC hatte sich die Mühe nicht gemacht und lag außen vor Anker, um sich die Revierfahrt zu sparen.

Wir blicken tief - tief runter auf unsere bisherige Kabine und wollen sehen, ob vielleicht jemand neues dort eingezogen ist. Endlich ein Safe mit Zahlenkombination so dass auch mehrere Bewohner der Kabine auf den Safe Zugriff haben und nicht nur einer mit der Karte, mit der der Safe verschlossen wurde. Sehr schön: hier gibt es Produkte von Elemis. Kaum sind wir in unsere Suite eingezogen, denken sie bereits daran uns wieder rauszuwerfen.

Hier erfahre ich auch vom Protest der Anwohner, die gegen die Abriegelung der Promenade für die Anwohner sind. Bei Great Island Motors haben wir damals auch einen Wagen gemietet. Damals legten wir mit der MARCO POLO 2019 in Ringaskiddy an - auf der anderen Uferseite. Während wir auf unseren Führer warten, unterhalte ich mich mit einem Taxifahrer, der seine Touren anbietet: Er schlägt uns vor nach Kinsale zu fahren, wenn wir das nächste Mal wieder da sind.Ein paar Bilder von CARNIVAL PRIDE und eines gemeinsam mit unserem Fremdenführer Peter. Das war eine etwas schwierige Geburt, für die Peter nichts konnte. Von den Erfahrungen in Großbritannien und in anderen Ländern, wurden wir bislang immer sehr unterstützt, wenn wir einen privaten Tourguide wollten. Die eigene Fremdenführer-Organisation ATGI tat sich mit individuellen Anfragen etwas schwer. Hätte ich mich als TUI vorgestellt, wären sie mir vermutlich direkt in die Arme gefallen. Auch hatte die lokale Touristinformation gar keine Lust mich diesbezüglich zu unterstützen. Am Schluss war ich soweit, dass Irland von mir aus ein weißer Fleck auf meiner Kreuzfahrtkarte bleiben konnte und ich bleibe an Bord! Dann hatte ich aber zufällig über LinkedIn zufällig jemand vom Management von ATGI gefunden. Dann waren wir soweit und alles war gut: dann brach irgendein Auto zusammen. Ich sah auf mich auf jeden Fall schon an Bord der CARNIVAL PRIDE und von mir aus konnte Irland so schön sein, wie es wollte: mich interessierte alles nicht mehr. Dann tauchte Peter wie Phoenix aus der Asche auf. Als ich dann mir sein Profil angesehen habe, bin ich dann rückwärts umgefallen: hatte ich etwa Mr. Eire persönlich als Tourguide? Das Profil klang vielsprechend. Aber: Ende gut - alles gut! Vielen Dank an Jessie für ihren besonderen Einsatz.
A few pictures from CARNIVAL PRIDE and one together with our guide Peter. It was a somewhat "tricky birth" that Peter couldn't help. From our experiences in the UK and other countries, we have always been very supportive when we wanted a private tour guide. The ATGI (Association of Tourist Guides in Ireland) organization found it challenging to deal with individual requests. If I had introduced myself as a tour operator like TUI, they would have fallen straight into my arms. Also, the local tourist information didn't want to support me. Ultimately, I was ready to leave Ireland blank on my cruise map and stay on board! But then I found someone from ATGI's management via LinkedIn. Then we were prepared, and everything was fine: then some car broke down. I looked after myself on board the CARNIVAL PRIDE, and Ireland could be as beautiful as I wanted: I wasn't interested in anything anymore. Then Peter emerged like a phoenix from the ashes. Then, when I looked at his profile, I fell backward: did I have Mr. Eire personally as a tour guide? The profile sounded promising. But: All is that ends well! Peter explains the importance of Cobh as a port of departure for the emigrants: the shipping lines represented here. He also presents us with the background of the LISUTANIA monument. We were already at the cemetery where the victims were buried when we were here with MARCO POLO 2019. The importance of the offshore islands is explained to us. Wir "mosern", weil es etwas regnet, aber Peter sagt, dass das nicht als Regen gilt.Irgendwie haben wir aber auch Pech mit der St.-Colman-Kathedrale von Cobh - übrigens die zweitgrößte Kathedrale in Irland. Wir lernen immer noch dazu: bisher dachte ich immer dass die Bezeichnung Kathedrale etwas mit den Anzahl der Türmen oder so etwas zu tun hätte. Aber ich irre mich: da wo es einen Stuhl für den Bischof gibt, da ist es keine Kirche mehr sondern eine Kathedrale. Wir müssen in ein weniger religiöses Land ziehen und wieder können wir das Innere der Kathedrale nicht sehen, weil Gottesdienst ist. Wie bereits damals bei der MARCO POLO 2019. Dennoch zeigt er uns abseits des Hauptschiffes ein paar Details und erläutert uns die Zusammenhänge zwischen dieser Kathedrale und der Westminster Abtei bzw. Westmister Kathedrale - aber den habe ich wieder vergessen und konnte es jetzt auf Google und Wikipedia nicht mehr ermitteln. Das muss ich aber nicht hier und jetzt klären, sondern ich frage ihn einfach wieder bei der nächsten Führung. Wir sind bestimmt nicht das letzte Mal in Cobh. Im "Fundbüro" treffen wir Ashley, die eigentlich den Bahnhof sucht. Kurzerhand bieten wir ihr an, dass sie sich gerne uns anschließen kann.

Aber hieß die CARNIVAL PRIDE zuvor auch nur PRIDE? - Nein - sie wurde als CARNIVAL PRIDE in Dienst gestellt.

Hier verpasse ich es leider, weil wir keinen Platz bekommen im Restaurant über den Marktständen.Ashley möchte noch in die TITANIC Ausstellung in Cobh. Peter erzählt darauf hin, dass sein Großvater noch an der TITANIC mitgearbeitet hat und als Vorarbeiter noch einen Preis für seine Arbeitsleistung bekommen hat: eine Mitfahrt auf der TITANIC. Allerdings sei seine Frau dagegen gewesen mitzufahren. Wir nutzen wieder den Vorteil einer privaten Führung: es gibt kein Corned Beef, sondern nur ein Schnittchen von Joey's + Bros., da wir schnellstmöglich nach Cobh zurück wollen. Die Chance, dass jemand vor uns steht, dessen Großvater an der TITANIC mitgearbeitet hat: das müssen wir ausnutzen, um uns die Geschichten rund um die TITANIC näher zu bringen.

Wir fahren zurück: ich liebe Eisbein...Als wir in Cobh zurück sind, schlägt uns Peter zwei Alternativen vor, um uns die TITANIC nahe zu bringen. Wir versuchen Karten zu bekommen, aber zu viert bekommen wir erst Karten, wenn Ashley bereits zurück sein muss. Da Peter Gott und die Welt kennt, überredet er die Kassiererin, dass Ashley in einer früheren Tour unterkommt und noch rechtzeitig zum Schiff zurück schafft. Er als Fremdenführer bekommt Rabatt und wir als seine Gäste erhalten den gleichen Rabatt. Wir müssen allerdings später rein, so nutzen wir die Zeit, um Peter musizieren zu hören. Er hat im Rob Roy Pub die Erlaubnis im hinteren Raum zu spielen. Als er loslegt, kommen immer mehr Gäste von draußen und aus dem vorderen Raum zu uns. Alle schwingen und gehen im Takt mit. Also das ist ja schon Irland pur. Leider ist Peter Freund von historischer irischer Musik. Ich habe mich ja mit "Galway Girl", "Fairytale of New York" und "Danny Boy" etwas vorbereitet... aber das wird leider nicht gespielt. Und trotzdem hat es sehr viel Spaß gemacht.
When we return to Cobh, Peter suggests two alternatives to introduce us to TITANIC. We try to get tickets but only get access once Ashley returns. And still, it was much fun.We are going to TITANIC Experience Cobh. Let's put it this way: it is reminiscent of the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC, with the fate cards of passengers. Unser Abend endet beim Chef's Dinner. Wir haben ihn schon vorab gebucht, aber dann wieder storniert, als feststand, dass wir 500 USD Bordhaben bekommen. Aber wenn wir gewusst hätten, dass das ein erstattbares Guthaben ist, hätten wir uns das schenken können. Wir haben dann wieder Plätze bekommen. Wir haben es schon auf der CARNIVAL SPIRIT 2011 mitgemacht. Das war unvergesslich. Zuletzt haben wir es auf der REGAL PRINCESS 2022 und CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022 mitgemacht. Aber da gab es keine 13 Gänge. Und wir waren nicht in der Galley bei den anderen. Sechs aus der Galley und zwei Kellnerinnen kümmern sich um uns: Josua, Maung, Marissa, Johnson, Sonjay, Jennie-Lyn, sowie Ronae und Moreblessing. Wir erleben einen super tollen Service mit einem kleinen Abzug: es gibt keinen Espresso am Schluss. Aber ansonsten PERFEKT! Menge und Mühe stimmen: es ist ein einmaliges Erlebnis. Ich würde behaupten, dass es schon der beste Chef's Table ist. Zwischendurch waren auch der Fotograf und der Tischzauberer da. "Ein schöner Tag, die Welt ist schön, ein schöner Tag... Komm Welt lass dich umarmen, welch ein Tag..." - genauso fühle ich mich. Our evening ends with the Chef's Dinner. We booked it in advance but canceled again when we learned we were getting 500 USD on board. But if we had known this was a refundable credit, we could have given it to ourselves. Then we got seats again. We already did it at the CARNIVAL SPIRIT 2011. That was unforgettable. Most recently, we did it at the REGAL PRINCESS 2022 and CELEBRITY REFLECTION 2022. But there were no 13 courses. And we weren't in the galley with the others. Six from the galley and two waitresses take care of us: Josua, Maung, Marissa, Johnson, Sonjay, Jennie-Lyn, plus Ronae and Moreblessing. We experience excellent service with a small deduction: no espresso is at the end. But otherwise, PERFECT! Quantity and effort are correct: it is a unique experience. It's the best Chef's Table yet. In between, the photographer and the table magician were also there. I sing silently a German song: "A beautiful day, the world is beautiful, a beautiful day... Come world, let me hug you, what a day..." - that's how I feel.Tonight I'm going to sit down at the Alchemy Bar. It still takes a long time, and, above all, I'm constantly being asked if I'm serious about being alcohol-free and that it's not for children. What's that supposed to mean? It tastes good, but I won't repeat this fuss.
Heute Abend setze ich mich an die Alchemy Bar. Es dauert trotzdem sehr lange und vor allem ich werde ständig gefragt, ob ich es ernst meine mit dem alkoholfrei und dass es nichts für Kinder sei. Was soll das? Es schmeckt, aber nochmals mache ich dieses Theater nicht mit.
Outside, the sea is so rough that the promenade is closed. The sliding door to the bathroom makes itself independent. We can't go to the bathroom anymore. Unfortunately, we must call the carpenter out of bed in the middle of the night. He finds that the magnet that should have held the door in place has come loose. Draußen ist die See so unruhig, dass die Promenade gesperrt wird. Die Schiebetür zum Bad macht sich selbstständig. Wir können nicht mehr ins Bad. So müssen wir leider mitten in der Nacht den Schreiner aus dem Bett rufen. Er stellt fest, dass sich der Magnet gelöst hatte, der die Tür hätte fixieren müssen. Hier machen sich dann doch die 22 Jahre bemerkbar. Sie wird provisorisch repariert und am nächsten Tag wieder in Ordnung gebracht.
