Hier kann man natürlich alles ausprobieren, was nun aus dem Rahmen fällt.

Weil der Ort nun mal bekannt ist, für alle, die aus dem Rahmen fallen.

John suggested to have a look around at the beach.



John schlägt uns vor, dass wir uns mal in Ruhe am Strand umsehen sollten.

Hier üben nämlich bereits die Skateboard-Stars von morgen.

As I was driving, having some jetleg and needing some sone I just loaded down Randy Newman's "I love L.A." and tried to get a certain distance to Germany. From minute to minute I liked it more.



Da ich fahre, Jetleg habe und etwas Sonne brauche, lade ich mir Randy Newmans "I love L.A." herunter und versuche endlich genügend Abstand nach Deutschland zu gewinnen. Von Minute zu Minute gelingt es mir immer mehr.

John erklärt uns, dass Venice eben nach den Kanälen von Venedig benannt ist und führt uns zu den Kanälen, die in geringer Zahl noch existieren.



John explained us that Venice was named after canals in Venice, Italy and took us to the canals which were still existing in a small number.

Unbelievable but true...

Hier zu wohnen muss sehr schön sein.

Reminded me to the suburbs of Berlin as friends of mine are living there.



Erinnert mich an Erkner bei Berlin. Dort wohnen Freunde so ähnlich.

John erklärt uns, dass die Lagen in Venice nicht so unter der Immobilienkrise gelitten haben, und wir leider kein Schnäppchen machen können.



John explained that the location Venice was not suffered due much to the mortgage crisis and we cannot make a bargain here.

Because it was too attractive to live close to the Marina.



Weil es einfach attraktiv direkt am Zugang zur Marina zu wohnen.

Und man hier sieht und gesehen wird.



Important that you see and are seen.

You see that you are in California. They do every kind of water sports.



Man merkt, dass wir in Kalifornien sind. Es wird alles an Wassersport praktiziert.







A little hidden behind a cemetary where John took us to.



Etwas versteckt liegt ein Friedhof, zu dem uns John führt.

Wir waren schon sehr gespannt, was er uns zeigen wollte.

It was the last place to rest in peace for Marilyn Monroe in Westwood.



Es ist die Ruhestätte von Marilyn Monroe in Westwood.

Weiter geht es nach Beverly Hills.



We headed to Beverly Hills.

At the corner there was the Beverly Wilshire Hotel which was the set of "Pretty Woman" and "Valentines Day".



An der Ecke liegt das Beverly Wilshire Hotel, in denen die Handlungen von "Pretty Woman" und "Valentinstag" stattfanden.

Da wir uns das eh nicht leisten können, legen wir auch keinen großen Wert darauf, uns es von innen anzusehen.



As we could not afford it any how it did not make too much sense to see around.

John said that we should try it into the court. But after there were so many black luxury limousines we did not feel comfortable to enter with our white Tahoe.



John meinte, dass wir uns ruhig trauen sollten, den Innenhof reinzufahren. Aber nach dort alles voller schwarzer Luxuslimousinen stand, fand ich es unangemessen in unserem weißen Tahoe vorzufahren.

Weiter geht es durch den Rodeo Drive.

He explained that you do not ask for the price. Who asks cannot afford anyway to buy there.



Er erklärt uns, dass man hier nicht nach dem Preis fragt. Wer danach fragt, kann sich den Einkauf eh nicht leisten.

Da wir ihm glauben, legen wir auch keinen Wert darauf das persönlich in einem Geschäft auszusprobieren.



As we believed him we were not so much interested to test it ourselves.

We continued to West Hollywoon. In the night it is jam-packed. Daytime like a cemetary. Here is the Whisky à go go - one of the world-famous clubs where you can meet the Hollywood stars.



Weiter geht es nach West Hollywood. Nachts tobt hier der Bär. Tagsüber ist hier Totenstille. Hier das Whisky à go go als einer der zahlreichen weltbekannten Clubs in der man die Sterne und Sternchen Hollywoods trifft.
